September 11: Around Fairfax on Our Sunday Afternoon Outing

After going to church, running a couple of errands, and spending the early afternoon working on each of our passions - woodworking and quilting, we decided to take a walk in the beautiful weather and take in a few more sites around our little town.  We know we are blessed and appreciate what a wonderful life we have shared with each other.  It is hard to believe that there are so many tragedies and so much hatred in the world when one is surrounded by the love of a good man and the beauty that we saw on this outing.  I thank God every day for all of this.
I am a cloud watcher.  Loved the look of these clouds.  Kevin thinks they are referred to as "mare's tails".

This is the start of our walking trail.  It is not a long one, but it is scenic.

The wind was blowing, but my dear husband thought we needed a self-portrait anyway to show how much we were enjoying the outdoors.  Going white is challenging.  Letting my grandson see me looking like I have clown hair is very brave on my part.

This covered bridge is right here in Fairfax.

This is part of the river or creek that runs under the covered bridge.  It was happily gurgling and bubbling along its way.

The sumac is starting to change color.  Fall is coming.

Another shot of the view from the trail

Lots for flowers and colorful plants line the trail.

Both of us are drawn to the falls.  We drove over the bridge to the other side to get some new perspectives.  Love the sounds!

Falls from another vantage point

This is where we were on the other side when we took the photos of the roaring falls after Hurricane Irene did her thing.
